Photo Vacation Ideas?
A lot of the best pictures I took last year, including what I consider to be the best picture I took all year, came from a single 3-day trip I took to Atlantic City. (I’ve posted a couple of them already, and I’ll be posting more as I go along.) I think the reasons that trip was so productive were that I was there with the specific intent of taking pictures, I was alone, and there wasn’t much of anything else in Atlantic City that I wanted to do: in short, there was nothing to distract me from taking pictures, so that’s basically all I did for a few days.
So now I have 3 carry-over vacation days that I need to use up by the end of March, a $500 airline voucher from a time when I was bumped from a United flight last year, and a photoblog that needs feeding, and I’m thinking about combining these things and taking a similar photography trip. To achieve the same success I had with the Atlantic City trip, I’d like to go somewhere that 1) is highly photogenic, and 2) doesn’t have much else to do that would distract me from taking pictures.
I was thinking maybe Vegas, which qualifies under both criteria, but I’m still thinking about other possibilities. Do my devoted readers have any suggestions? Use the “Comments” link on the left side of this post. $500 can even get me out of the country, especially considering that this is the off-season, so it doesn’t have to be confined to the US.
