They’re copying my ideas!
I can’t believe it–Hasbro is actually taking inspiration from a blog post I wrote years ago.
From the real news story:
Universal Pictures has announced a six-year partnership with Hasbro to produce at least four feature films based on branded properties.
The properties include “Monopoly,” “Candy Land,” “Clue,” “Ouija,” “Battleship,” “Magic, The Gathering” and “Stretch Armstrong.”
From my blog post several years back:
I was thinking about the excellent movie Clue last night and wondering why they haven’t made any other movies based on board or card games. Here are a few ideas I came up with:Monopoly: Financed by his rich uncle Moneybags, a well-dressed young man comes to Atlantic City to make his fortune in real estate. But when he runs up against a foot fetishist determined to own all of the land in the city, he’ll have to take a few chances if he wants to succeed.
Battleship: A thick fog descends over a huge naval battle, forcing commanders on both side to shoot blind. The crew of a plucky little destroyer has to find and sink the enemy battleship before it torpedoes them.
Candy Land: A band of precocious children has to use the weapons of Good Dental Hygene to save Candy Land from the Demons of Decay. (Animated.)
In fairness to Hasbro, I never thought of doing a Ouija movie–that one’s all them.
