Meeting with Boss’s Boss

November 29th, 2006

So I just had my meeting with my boss’s boss, about my future position in the agency. He seems to really like me–he referred to me as a “hidden gem” in the department, and said he wanted to promote me and keep my career path moving forward. I expressed my concern that I don’t have enough experience working directly with clients, which is the one big part of the planning business I haven’t done enough of.

Long story short, it looks like I’ll be working temporarily on a B2B project involving our Atlanta office. This will only be for a couple of months, most likely. I’ll be getting more client face time on this project, in addition to conducting and analyzing a lot of research. And in the meanwhile, we’ll be looking for a long-term client that would be a good fit for me and for where I want to go with my career. It sounds like I’ll actually have choices of what I want to do next, which is obviously great.

Another Account Lost

November 28th, 2006

Well, my company just, once again, lost a major account that I had been working on. I really enjoyed this account–I got to immerse myself in kids’ trends and media, which was great fun. Officially we’re working on it for a couple of months, but there isn’t a lot going on anymore.

The company’s guaranteed that all of us who wore working on the account still have jobs, but now I don’t know what I’ll be working on next. I asked my boss about it today–she had a couple of thoughts of things that might be possible, but ultimately it’s not her decision. I’m talking to her boss, the head of the department, tomorrow.

King Kong Extended

November 27th, 2006

I just saw an ad for a new Extended Edition of Peter Jackson’s version of King Kong. Because, you know, when I was watching that movie, the thought that kept running through my mind was, “This isn’t long enough. This would be better if only it were longer.”

How Social Are You?

November 26th, 2006

I was calling Christmas tonight, and I called her, as I always do, by pulling up the recent call history on my cell phone–it’s the most convenient way for me. And it occurred to me, this could be a quick test of how social you are: how often do you have to use anything other than the recent call history to call someone? For me, it’s almost never–my cell phone stores the last 10 numbers dialed, and whoever I’m trying to call, they’re almost always in my last 10 numbers. Christmas is much more social than me, though, and I expect that she calls people who aren’t in her last 10 a lot more often.

You Might Be a Zombie If…

November 22nd, 2006

If you’ve ever woken up with a woman’s arm around you, and the rest of the woman was nowhere to be found…
…you might be a zombie.

If you failed the SAT Verbal section because the only word you know is “Unnnnnhhhhhh”…
…you might be a zombie.

If you’ve ever ordered Chinese food so that you could eat the delivery guy…
…you might be a zombie.

Archives from Blogger

November 21st, 2006

The good news is, I managed to import all of my old archives from the Blogger blog. Check them out in the “Archives” box at the bottom of the right column.

The bad news is, they came in without titles or categories. The importer cleverly set the category to “Uncategorized” for all of them, and less cleverly used the post ID number as the title for all of them. So the archives are all there, but they have butt-ugly titles. I’ll probably fix this.

Thanksgiving with Christmas

November 21st, 2006

I’m going to be with Christmas’s family for Thanksgiving this year. In previous years we’ve gone our separate ways, with her having Thanksgiving with her family and me having it with mine, but I decided that since I’m going to be spending Christmas with my family, they could spare me for Thanksgiving. It’s only the second time I’ve had a Thanksgiving not with my family, and both times were with girlfriends’ families–the last one was with Ex’s family, the year that my parents were in Sweden.
